Many people are talking about why wheat etc is bad and we are not adapted to digest it. Ayurveda realized this, in a way, and compensates for it by adding spices to the cooking pot. Turmeric is a great spice to use when cooking grains. See

You can add 1 teaspoon of turmeric to cooking grains, pasta, baking. It is good advice also to replace refined commercial wheat foods with unrefined, ancient wheat varieties. Also eat less wheat and experiment with other cereals like quinoa etc.
i find spelt much easier to digest than ordinary wheat. And for me, drinking chai with/after meals helps my digestion. But, yes, I do easily forget about the power of tumeric! ♥
According to Ayurveda, a short stroll after meals, then lye down on left hand side for 10-15 minutes helps digestion.
